After winning the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Mumbai Indians were handed a defeat as Kings XI Punjab earned an eight-wicket victory in their Vivo Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter. Indian opener KL Rahul managed to win the match for Punjab at PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Saturday.

The Indian opener remained unbeaten on 71 off 57 balls and ensured tha KXIP reached the 177-run target in mere 18.4 overs. This was KXIP's second win in three games whereas MI lost their second game.

The match was turned in Punjab's favour after the batsmen encashed on the 15th over bowled by all-rounder Hardik Pandya. KXIP bastmen managed to score 19 runs from the over.

Earlier in the match, MI opener Quinton de Kock contributed with a 39-ball-60 and provided the team a brilliant start. However, Mumbai Indians middle order went on to crumble until Hardik smashed 31 off 19 balls to ensure MI get past 175-run mark.

For the home team, Murugan Ashwin emerged as the most successful bowler with figures of 2 for 25 from his four overs.
