On April 3, Mumbai Indians were able to bring Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) winning streak to an end as an all-round show from Hardik Pandya ensured a 37-run victory for the Indians. Batting first, Mumbai Indians were off to a disastrous start as they were reduced to 50/3 at one stage of the game. However, a half-century from Suryakumar Yadav and a cameo from Hardik Pandya helped Mumbai to reach the 170-run mark.

Alongside, Krunal Pandya subtly assisted Yadav with his 32-ball 42. However, Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard provided MI with the finish they needed as they smashed 29 runs in the final over bowled by Dwayne Bravo.

Chasing the target, Chennai Super Kings never looked comfortable as Mumbai pacers ensured wickets at regular intervals. The sole batsman from CSK to fight was Kedar Jadhav as he scored a half-century but in vain. No other batsman was able to contribute to the losing side as they succumbed to Mumbai's pace attack.

Mumbai bowlers Lasith Malinga and Hardik Pandya, both scalped three wickets each. With this victory, Mumbai Indians have become the first IPL franchise to register 100 victories (including super overs).
