The 10th match in the current season of IPL is about to be played in a short while today. In this match, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be taking on the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI).

In the opening match of IPL 2020, Mumbai Indians clashed against Chennai Super Kings and lost by five wickets. However, in the last match, they were up against Kolkata Knight Riders which they won by 49 runs. RCB had won their opening match of the IPL 13 against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) and then lost out to Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by a whopping margin of 97 runs.

So at the moment both RCB and MI have one victory and one defeat in their kitty and would be looking at getting a win in today’s match.

Earlier in the week, Zaheer Khan who is Mumbai’s Director of Cricket Operations, at the pre-match press conference indicated that Hardik Pandya may ball soon for Mumbai Indians.

He said, “We are all expecting him (Hardik) to bowl and he is someone who really changes that balance of any side when he is bowling and he understands that. But we have to listen to his body and that is something the conversation which we have been having in consultation with the physios.”

Pandya is a great all-rounder for the Indian side and can prove to be a big asset in the 20-over format of the game.  In the current IPL season, he still not been given the opportunity to bowl and is yet to shine with his bat as well. In the last two matches that Mumbai Indians have played, Hardik Pandya has scored 18 and 14 runs.

In the same conference, Khan also complemented the performance of Jasprit Bumrah.  In the conference, he said, “Bumrah has been phenomenal in death overs and carries that weight of the backend of the innings on his shoulders, which always provides great strength to the bowling unit. As far as death bowling is concerned, I think we have pretty good plans in place with regards to different opposition and different batters”.

There is also news regarding the playing XI today from RCB’s camp. It is being touted that Proteas all-rounder Chris Morris is unlikely to play the match against Mumbai Indians today on September 28. The news has been shared by Mike Hesson, Director of Cricket of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The reason why Morris will not be able to be a part of the eleven today is due to side strain injury. He is said to be recovering well from this injury.

If one looks at the IPL’s history Mumbai Indians has an upper hand on Kohli’s men. The two teams have faced each other 25 times and out of these 16 matches have turned out to be in favour of Mumbai Indians.

The match will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium today and viewers will be able to catch it live on Star Sports at Hotstar from 7:30 PM (Indian Standard Time).
