A high scoring thrilling match is what fans were treated to when Chennai Super Kings clashed with Mumbai Indians at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday. Mumbai Indians (MI) won the toss and decided to bowl first.
There were two main changes in the MI squad. They brought in James Neesham and Dhawal Kulkarni for Jayant Yadav and Nathan Coulter-Nile.
Put to bat first, CSK was off to a flying start. The men in yellow posted a mammoth 218 for four wickets in their 20 overs. Ambati Rayudu knock of 72 off 27 balls helped the team in getting to this feat.
Three quick wickets in 14 balls left CSK struggling at 116/4 at the end of 12 overs and in danger of getting bowled out early. However, Raydu made sure that his team put up a formidable total against MI.
While one would think that over 200 will be difficult to chase. Not when you have Pollard on your side. He hammered Chennai Super Kings bowlers into submission, scoring 87 not out off 34 balls and hitting eight sixes and six fours. It was a nail-biting match that went on to the last ball. Later in the post-match presentation, Dhoni blamed poor fielding, especially dropping key catches as the reason why CSK was not able to win today.
