On Monday, May 9, Mumbai Indians (MI) faced off against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the DY Patil Stadium. MI won the toss and decided to bowl first.

From the MI camp, ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah rose to the occasion by taking five wickets and giving a mere 10 runs away in his four overs. While Bumrah led from the front, Kumar Kartikeya picked up two wickets and gave away 32 runs.

KKR's batsmen, Venkatesh Iyer scored 43 off 24 balls while Nitish Rana got 43 off 26 balls. Similarly, Ajinkya Rahane put on the board 25 off 24 balls.

While KKR had a fine start, in the last over, Bumrah gave a mere one run away as Rinku Singh got 23 not out off 19 balls, who failed to capitalize on the moment. Bumrah's performance restricted them to 165 at the loss of 9 wickets.

In the second innings, MI captain Rohit Sharma was given a controversial out when he managed to score just two runs from 6 balls. While Ishan Kishan managed to get a half-century, he did not receive support from the other end and was out with 51 from 43 balls.

Similarly, Tim David and Kieron Pollard managed to knock a few out of the park with 13 and 15 runs respectively. In the end, KKR managed to steal the game from MI by 52 runs.

KKR's bowlers, Pat Cummins got 3 wickets and Andre Russell got 2 wickets. With this, MI has won just 2 matches this IPL from its 10 games.

In the post match conference, Sharma acknowledged Bumrah's performance saying, "Bumrah was special today, the effort from the bowling unit was terrific." However, he added, "Batters let us down, the consistency has been missing from us and we couldn't chase it down today".
