On Thursday, May 12, the Mumbai Indians (MI) faced off against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium in south Mumbai in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. MI won the toss and chose to bowl. 

CSK were all out for a mere 97 runs since they lost wickets at regular intervals. MI's bowlers put up a spectacular performance, with Daniel Sams managing to get three wickets for 16 runs. Similarly, Riley Meredith got two wickets for 27 runs while Kumar Kartikeya gave away 22 runs and got two wickets.

In the powerplay, MI got 5 wickets and gave only 32 runs away. From the CSK camp, it was only skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni that put up a decent unbeaten 36 runs from 33 balls. 

While for many MI fans the game would have seemed like a cakewalk, it, however, was not the case. Captain Rohit Sharma secured 18 runs from 14 balls, while his opening partner Ishan Kishan got out for just 6 runs.

Following this, the other two wickets in quick succession. From CSK, Mukesh Choudhary got 3 wickets, Simarjeet Singh and Moeen Ali got a wicket each. 

When things seemed to be getting tough it was the youngsters' Tilak Varma and Hrithik Shokeen who rose to the occasion, with a partnership of 46. While Varma scored a 34, Shokeen got an 18. 

In the end, it was Tim David with a glorious six who secured the winning runs and ensured that MI won the match by 5 wickets.
