Sad news for MI Paltan as Mumbai Indians (MI) is officially out of the playoffs race in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

MI played against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday evening, October 8. MI did win the match against SRH by 42 runs and finished at fifth position in the IPL 2021 points table. For them to enter into playoffs, they had to restrict SRH under the 65-run mark; however, no one can deny that they had put a massive target for SRH to chase.

In 20 overs, MI scored 235 runs. This was their highest-ever total in IPL. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav played a phenomenon knock. Ishan Kishan made 84 runs in just 32 balls by smashing 11 fours and 4 sixes, while Suryakumar Yadav made 82 runs off 40 balls, smashing 13 fours and 3 sixes.

SRH had to chase 235 runs, but for MI to qualify, the paltan had to bowl them out under 65 runs. SRH lost their first wicket at 64 runs. Bumrah, Counter-Nile, and Neesham took 2 wickets each.

On Sunday, October 10, qualifier 1 will be played between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). On Monday, October 11, eliminator will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
