Shrugging off the past disappointing performances in the past two Vijay Merchant Trophy matches, Mumbai U-16 captain Musheer Khan registered a double hundred against Baroda at Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana on Sunday, November 18. The  knock comes after the young batsman was dismissed cheaply in his matches against Gujarat and Maharashtra respectively last month.

Musheer is the younger brother of the former U-19 batsman and Indian Premier League (IPL) player Sarfaraz Khan. The young prodigy who plays as a No.3 batsman for Mumbai, came in after opener Vedanta Gadia was dismissed off the first delivery and scored an unbeaten 206 to help Mumbai post 422 for 6 at stumps of the Day One of the three-day match.

Initially, Khan had begun as a left-arm spinner and made himself recognised for his bowling skills. However, the Mumbai captain has been recently working on developing his batting skills and as a result, has slammed a double hundred consisting of 19 fours and three sixes.

His fellow batsmen Suryansh Shedge and Sai Chavan scored 47 and 43 respectively as they failed to build on their starts but later, Aayush Zimare and Musheer put on 154 runs for the sixth wicket. The young batsman will now look forward to another successful season after his elegant knock. Earlier, Musheer had registered double hundreds in the U-14 West Zone tournament against Baroda and Saurashtra in 2016.
