Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma has been in an excellent form in the recent Test match against South Africa. In the first test not only did India win by huge margin of 203 runs but even Rohit broke multiple records.

Apart from the game, Rohit also took time out and spoke about the ongoing Aarey issue. In his opinion, it was not worth cutting down the trees in the region. In a tweet, he said, “"Even if there is more to the story, nothing is worth cutting down something so vital. Part of Mumbai being a slightly greener and slight difference in the temperature is mainly because of Aarey Colony. How can we take that away, not to mention the thousands of animals who will displace," Sharma tweeted.

The special bench of Supreme Court while hearing the case granted a stay on felling of trees on October 7. Mumbai Metro Rail Corp (MMRC) had started cutting the trees in Aarey on October 4 after the Bombay HC has dismissed all petitions opposing the Metro 3 (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) car-shed in Aarey.

The activist opposed this move and questioned why the trees had to be cut in the night time. According to MMRC they have cut 2141 trees in the area and are all set to begin construction.
