Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur and Virat Kohli to get the BCCI best cricketer award

Kohli will be awarded for two seasons (2016-17 & 2017-18) in the men’s category. Along with this, Harmanpreet and Mandhana will become the maiden recipents of the award for best cricketer.

With 56 centuries in international cricket, 21 in Test cricket and 35 in One Day Internationals, there’s no stopping for India captain Virat Kohli who is a class player and is able to score runs in all the formats of the game with ease. The batting form he is known for has fetched him BCCI’s best cricketer for two consecutive seasons.

Along with Virat Kohli, India Women’s stars Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur have also bagged the award for the best cricketer of the year for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons respectively.

"Following his phenomenal show in the past two seasons, Team India captain Virat Kohli will be presented with the prestigious Polly Umrigar Award for the best international cricketer (2016-17 and 2017-18) at the BCCI Awards to be held in Bengaluru on June 12," the BCCI said.

In 2016-17, Kohli played 13 Tests and scored 1332 runs with an average of 74 while piled up 1516 runs in the 27 ODIs at a phenomenal average of 84.22. On the other hand, in 2017-18 Kohli played 6 Tests and scored 896 runs at an average of 89.6 whereas his ODI average stayed at 75.50.
