Virat Kohli on Wednesday became the fastest batsman to score 12,000 runs in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). Kohli reached the milestone while playing the third ODI against Australia at the Manuka Oval. The Indian team is currently in Australia for three ODI matches and this is the last match of the series.
Virat Kohli has also broken the record held by master blaster Sachin Tendulkar in this regards. It has taken Kohli 242nd inning to get to this milestone, while Sachin Tendulkar had managed to get it in his 300th inning.
In this series itself, Kohli had achieved another milestone as he made he entered the elite list of batsmen that have scored 22,000 runs in international cricket. The right-handed batsman had reached this milestone in the second ODI match against Australia of Sunday, November 29. Even in this, Kohli had broken Sachin Tendulkar's record and became the quickest batsman to complete 22,000 runs.
Furthermore, Kohli is the second-highest scorer for India in ODIs behind Tendulkar's 18,426 from 463 ODIs. The India captain also holds the record for the fastest batsman (in terms of innings) to 10,000 and 11,000 runs in ODIs.
