Mumbai police have arrested one person for stealing mobile phones at a music concert in the suburb over the weekend.
According to reports, as many as 14 phones were reported stolen at a popular music concert organised at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) on Saturday, November 26. In this regards, so far the BKC police have registered four FIRs.
The police said more complaints are pouring in by the hour and the number of FIRs will increase. Among the stolen handsets are high end phones as well.
This incident took place at the DJ Snake concert organised at the MMRDA ground. There were hundreds of people at the concert.
Police officials stated that after the show ended at 10 pm, the audience started to realise that their phones were missing. People started to flock to the police station to complain about phones being taken out of their pockets.
The cops noted their names and contact details and asked them to return with details of the handsets like IMEI numbers and model name, officer added.
Police went to the concert location where they found a man moving around suspiciously. He was taken into custody when he tried to escape, and was brought to the BKC police station. During a search, two stolen iPhones were recovered from him.
The accused identified as Mohsin Khan lives in Bhiwandi. Police are verifying if he has a past criminal record and if he was working as part of a gang.
It is likely that other thieves or gangs were also active, besides Khan, said an officer. Khan was produced before a holiday court and has been remanded to police custody.
The police are going through CCTV footage in and around the MMRDA ground to establish the identities of other thieves.
Apart from the complaint, some of the audience members took to Twitter to report about the theft.
