A massive fraud in railway employment has come to light in Mumbai. It has led to the booking of 15 individuals and the subsequent arrest of 12 others. According to reports, they are responsible for submitting fake documents related to government reservation quotas. The fraud was brought to the attention of authorities when the Pant Nagar police station received a complaint regarding fraud, forgery, and breach of trust within the railway police recruitment process.

According to sources, the railway police had advertised 620 open positions for drivers and constables. This attracted a staggering 36,328 applicants for the physical exam conducted in 2020. Out of these, 23,723 candidates successfully passed the written test and were eligible to proceed further in the recruitment process.

The successful applicants were instructed to submit the necessary paperwork for verification and clearance. But candidates belonging to reserve categories were required to provide letters proving their eligibility. Later, railway authorities discovered that certain candidates had submitted fake reservation certificates. To confirm the authenticity of the certificates, a police team visited the collector's office and conducted a thorough investigation. The team's findings revealed that the reservation certificates submitted by the candidates were false.

As a result of the investigation, several individuals were identified as being involved in the fraudulent activities. Among the arrested individuals are Rahul Kalsane, Uttam Dhabdge, Akshay Bansode, Ashok Lakhs, Rahul Kalpe, and Navnath Patil. The names of those who are arrested for helping in supplying the fake documents are Ramesh Kankute, Anil Dhas, Pandurang Dhalpe, Sheikh Sadridin, and Navnath Kadam. While 12 individuals have been arrested so far, the investigation is still ongoing to determine the modus operandi behind the creation of these fraudulent certifications.
