A 19-year-old law student was booked for rash driving by Dharavi Police on Tuesday when she crashed into a Bolero, a scooter and an auto-rickshaw after hitting five pedestrians near Sion. The girl, identified as Dhruvi Jain, was driving a rental car and was on her way to Bandra with her friends when the accident took place.

The incident happened near Ambedkar Garden, Y junction, Sion Road at around 5:30 PM. When the signal turned red, the girl stepped on the gas instead of applying brakes. Jain is a resident of Kalbadevi and is a first-year law student.

Sajida Sameer Khan, 26, a resident of Kherwadi lodged a complaint against Jain. Khan was crossing the road with her husband Sameer Khan and their three-month-old son when they were hit. All three of them sustained minor injuries. Among other pedestrians injured at the scene were Bibi Fatima, 27, and Arshad Sayed, 38.

The car has been seized and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, as confirmed by the Dharavi Police.
