There are quite a few controversies revolving around Kangana Ranaut at this time. She had recently commented that she fears Mumbai Police more than the Movie Mafias. As a reply to this, Sanjay Raut in Siv Sena's mouthpiece Saamna wrote that Kangana should not come back to Mumbai.

Post this incident, there have been two FIRs lodged against the actress.  One of them has lodged in Khar while the other at Azad Maidan Police Station. Santosh Deshpande registered an online complaint against the national-award-winning actress said that her tweets had hurt the pride of Maharashtra. He also alleged that her tweets are provocative and lead to many demonstrations in the state. Furthermore, Deshpande claims that if his complaint is not taken seriously by the Mumbai Police, he will drag Kangana in court and demand for justice there.

Kangana is planning to return to Mumbai on September 9, 2020. She announced the same on Twitter and also shared that she will be sharing the time of her arrival on social media too and challenged people to stop her from coming to Mumbai.

On Monday, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) granted 'Y' category security to Kangana ahead of her return to Mumbai from her hometown in Himachal Pradesh, She took to Twitter to thank Home Minister Amit Shah for providing her with Y-plus category security, following her recent spat with Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut who has asked her to stay away from Mumbai.

"This shows that no one can crush a patriot in the country. I am thankful to Home Minister Amit Shah. Had he wanted, he would have told me to visit Mumbai later amid the ongoing tension but he respected India's daughter and acknowledged my self-respect. Jai Hind," Kangana Tweeted.
