According to a latest report, a 20-year-old man was booked for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl in the Ramnagar area of Thane district of Maharashtra, informed police on Tuesday, November 16.

The case was registered on November 14 at the Shanti Nagar police station in Thane district. The accused was a worker in power loom factory in Bhiwandi.

The police official stated that a case has been lodged under POCSO Act and IPC Section 376 against the accused, who lives in the same locality. However, the accused is absconding and a search is underway to nab him.

A senior officer of Shanti Nagar police station said that the incident happened when the girl was playing outside her house in Ramnagar area on Sunday, November 14, when the 20-year-old man came and took the girl inside a house on the pretext of giving chocolates and raped her.

However, the police are further investigating in the case.

In another gruesome incident, on Sunday evening, November 14, three people were nabbed for allegedly raping a minor married girl in Maharashtra’s Beed, highlighted reports. SP Beed Raja Ramasamy stated that the survivor is two months pregnant.

Recently, the city has witnessed a growing number of crimes against women. In the aftermath of the Saki Naka rape case, Mumbai Police is set to open counselling centres for women.
