According to the latest reports, a case has been registered against 29 people for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl in Dombivali on the basis of a minor’s complaint.

A total of 21 accused have been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl in Dombivli, said a Thane police official. Meanwhile, the other two detained accused are minors. Police are on the lookout for the remaining six accused.

The official said that police teams were searching for the culprits without divulging any further details of the case.

Moreover, the investigation revealed that the accused were the minor's friend, said the police.

The main accused is said to be a friend of the survivor who had first raped the girl in January and made a video of the same. Later, the other accused using the same video, blackmailing the girl, and raping her on several occasions at different places including Dombivali, Badlapur, Rabale and Murbad.

The minor girl is currently undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Kalwa.

On Wednesday night, September 22, the victim approached the police after which a gang rape case was registered. All accused are booked under Indian Penal Code Section 376 (rape), 376 (N), 376 (3), 376 (D) (A) and Section 4,6 and 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO)Act.
