The city was shocked when news of a 3-year old girl's murder came to light as she was flung from the 7th floor of a building in Colaba by her father's friend.
As per the investigation, the accused - Anil Chaugani - had visited Morocco as he felt he was falling prey to black magic. Apparently, a person in Morocco told him that he can get rid of black magic only when he sacrifices twins.
The incident took place on Saturday afternoon where Chaugani, who was a school friend of the victim's father, visited the family. The twins were Shreya and Shanaya and Chugani took away Shanaya along with him on the pretext of playing with her. The domestic help also accompanied Shanaya and after seeing the domestic help, the accused panicked and locked the door behind him and flung the kid outside the window. The kid was rushed to the hospital where she died later that night.

Chaugani is in police custody and has confessed to the crime. It has further come to light that the person in Morocco told him that after killing twins, the accused will lead a prosperous life. The police have found a diary at Chaugani's house in which it is written 'kill the child'. Allegedly Chaugani said that the Moroccan person wrote the same in his diary. Along with those words, Chaugani further confessed that he believes 'god' told him that it was the only option that he had. Police found details about his references during the day and also about rains. The accused believed that he was suffering with pain because of his sins and these details were written in his diary.
He was initially booked for the murder of the infant but now has charges of Anti-Superstition and Black Magic act against him.
