In a recently reported incident at Mumbai International Aiport, a total of 40 passengers heading to Dubai presented fake coronavirus (COVID-19) report, owing to which the officials held the passengers. Necessary action is being taken against them. Officials informed that fake RT-PCR test results were presented upon arrival on November 12, 2021.

According to the guidelines, passengers travelling to Dubai must undergo two rounds of RT-PCR tests upon arrival, the first being the rapid antigen test and the other being the regular RT-PCR test, at six and 48 hours of departure respectively. The cost of both the tests differs significantly.

RTPCR tests submitted by international travellers must have a QR code and when they were presented to the officials, the data was different than expected. The information showed by the scan did not match the passenger details, informed the airport authorities, and hence they were stopped from boarding the flight.

Officials cancelled home sample collection and pre-registration post this incident. Passengers who had to board the flight, had to reach the airport, several hours early for the same. A dedicate entrance gate has been planned for passengers heading to Dubai. Necessary arrangements like the waiting area, testing rooms, etc. have been created for the rapid test which needs to be done six hours before the flight. The result is produced in 30-45 minutes, post which a clearance is given to board the flight.
