    Aarey police arrest 6 accused in connection with watchman’s muder

    Aarey police have arrested six accused in connection with watchman Veera Pandiyan’s murder. Accused comprise of two minors. Cheliya Durai is the prime accused and he used to quarrel with victim Veera over Film City’s watchman contract. Enraged Durai planned the murder with other six accused and killed Veera. 

    Veera is a Chennai resident and used to reside at Aarey. On Thursday, he left home for his work when he was accosted by Durai and his three men near Aarey dairy. After arguing with him, Durai injured him with a knife. Veera tried running away from the accused but he was followed by the latter and they hit him with stone and ran away. Aarey police got the call by other watchman. Police then reached the spot and admitted Veera to Goregaon’s Siddartha hospital. However, he died due to excessive blood loss.

    To investigate the matter, Aarey police made a team of six and started searching for the accused. After arresting the accused, the latter admitted to the crime.

    Post the incident, relatives of the deceased Veera carried out a protest at Aarey police. Cheliya Raja, Cheliya Durai, Haider Ali Abdul Jamal Sheikh and Vyankatesh Chavhan have been arrested.
