Accused Vikram Athwal, 35 who was held for murdering Rupal Ogrey, an air hostess has committed suicide in Andheri lock-up. He hung himself with the help of pants in the toilet. 


On September 3, Rupal Ogrey was murdered by stabbing her in the neck. The accused was part of housekeeping staff in the same building. It is believed that two days before the murder, the duo had an argument. Injuries on the face and hands raised suspicion on the accused.

The name of the deceased girl is Rupal Ogrey. She was an air hostess. Rupal, originally from Chhattisgarh, came to Mumbai in April 2023 for work. Rupal lived in this flat with her sister and sister's husband. Six months ago, she was selected for the post of Trainee Air Hostess in Air India. Rupal's sister had gone to the village a few days ago and Rupal was alone at home.


Recovered knife used by housekeeping staff

Police were successful in recovering the knife along with the clothes the accused was wearing at the time of the crime in suburban Andheri four days ago, police said on Wednesday. The murder weapon, a nine-inch knife, and the clothes accused Vikram Athwal (40) was wearing at the time of the crime were recovered from bushes near the housing society where the victim resided, a police official said.
