Alert motorman averts major train accident

A speeding truck coming from Panvel rammed into an iron pole on Kings' Circle bridge on Baba Ambedkar Marg. 

The height of the truck was the root cause as the truck's upper body hit the roof of the bridge and the truck went on divider consequently hitting the iron pole. Part of the iron piller fell on the railway track. The incident took place on Sunday at 4 am.

While the motorman was driving the first local train towards CST, he noticed the part of iron pillar and stopped the local train. The alertness of the motorman averted a huge mishap. The pillar weighed 15 kg and was 10 feet long. 

Sion Police station got the information and rushed to the spot. Truck driver, Suman Kumar Rajendra Prasad was taken under police custody. Wadala GRP and RPF officers started an inspection drive on the railway tracks and probed further investigations.
