Malvani police have registered a murder case against an unknown person in connection with 25-year-old Arpita Tiwari, an anchor, vocalist and an event presenter, who allegedly committed suicide from the 15th floor of a high rise building in Malad. Her semi-nude body was found in the duct of the same building.

Post the incident, Malwani Police filed a case of accidental death. However, when Arpita’s parents suspected a foul play in her death, police registered a case under section 302 (Punishment for murder) and 201 (disappearance of evidence) of the IPC. On Tuesday, a forensic unit arrived and recreated the crime scene by throwing a dummy of the same weight that is of Arpita. Along with this, they also collected fingerprints.

Midnight on Sunday, Arpita went to her boyfriend Pankaj Jadhav’s house in Malvani to party, after which they slept. However, in the morning, on not being able to find Arpita, Pankaj and his friend started looking for her. Initially, the two thought that she would be in the washroom as the door was locked from inside. But later, when they broke the door, she was nowhere to be found. However, the window pane was removed and Arpita’s body was found on the second floor’s duct in a seminude state.

According to the information received, Tiwari was in a relationship and was planning to marry her boyfriend Pankaj. Police are now further investigating the matter for more details.
