A male passenger was arrested for urinating, defecating, and spitting on an Air India flight from Mumbai to Delhi. The incident occurred on June 24, 2023, aboard flight AIC 866 in row 9. The passenger was identified as Ram Singh of seat 17F during the flight.
According to witnesses, the passenger's behaviour began when he started urinating and defecating on the floor of the aircraft. Then he proceeded to spit in the cabin. As soon as the cabin crew became aware of the situation, they promptly intervened. They warned the passenger about his misconduct.
The crew also isolated the passenger from the rest of the travellers. They also immediately informed the pilot about the incident and requested additional security measures upon the flight's arrival in Delhi. Passengers also expressed their frustration and disappointment, demanding appropriate action against the offender.
The security personnel approached the person upon the flight's arrival in Delhi and promptly escorted him to the local police station. The chief of Air India security also intervened. A case has been registered against the passenger under sections 510 and 294 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertain to misconduct and obscene actions.
This is not the first time such a disturbing incident has occurred on an Air India flight. A similar event took place on November 26, 2022, when an intoxicated man allegedly urinated on a female co-passenger during a flight from New York to Delhi.
