Akshata Naik, wife of Anvay Naik, on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, thanked the Maharashtra Police for the action taken against the Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV, Arnab Goswami. She shared the same at a press conference and while addressed the media and said that her husband would have been alive, had Arnab Goswami's company paid for the work her husband had done.

Architect Anvay Naik died due to suicide and had written the names of three people in his note, one of which mentioned Arnab Goswami. However, no action was taken against them. He committed the act, in 2018, over payment-related issues and dues by Republic TV.

Sharing information with the media, his daughter Adnya and wife Akshata stated that they had sent applications to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and Raigad superintendent of police, hoping to seek justice for Anvay. Arnab was arrested by the Alibag Polic on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, on the charge of abetting the suicide of the 53-year-old interior designer.

Both Adnya and Akshata thanked the police and requested a fair investigation, further stating that the same was earlier suppressed only because of Arnab himself. They also ruled out all the claims of Anvay knowing any politicians and said that they did not want to get into politics and were not connected to any party or persons. All they seek is justice for Anvay.

Meanwhile, Akshata Naik added, "Maharashtra police are well capable to investigate this case. My husband had mentioned names of three persons including Arnab Goswami in his suicide note but no arrest was made then. He committed suicide only because his legitimate dues were not paid by the accused persons."

A suicide note was found near Anvay during his death which mentioned that he was ending his life due to non-payment of his dues, and blamed Arnab Goswami, Feroz Shaikh of IcastX/Skimedia and Niteish Sarda of Smartworks. Anvay owned a firm named Concorde Designs Pvt Ltd, and the three firms owed him INR 83 lakh, INR 4-crore and INR 55 lakh respectively.

Sharing their thought, the family said, that Arnab called Anvay's customers who had outstanding balance and stirred an unruly behaviour, due to which Anvay was not getting other projects and his associates were leaving too. He did everything out of revenge and this led to Anvay taking a drastic step. His wife said, "If my husband had received the money, he would be alive today."

The family claims that back then, they were under constant pressure from Arnab which led to them filing a complaint with the police. However, post this, Arnab also threatened to ruin his daughter's career. Soon, the family had to suffer as there was no money or project offered to him, and the project he undertook at Republic was his last. His daughter shared that Anvay took this step as he had no other option left.

Anvay Naik's case was reopened in May 2020 whereby Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had ordered a fresh probe regarding the matter after a complaint was filed by Adnya Naik.
