This version of the George Orwell quote sits well with an incident recently in Malvani. Manohar Chaudhari had parked his car opposite Malvani police station when a police van rammed into it.
When Chaudhari went to the police station to file a complaint against the driver of the police van, his complaint was refused upfront. When an irritated Chaudhari started started shouting, the policemen on duty attempted to calm him down by offering to file an NC (non cognisable offence). Manohar told Mumbai Live,"After hitting my car, the police started asking for my documents and the car papers, while the police personnel responsible for hitting my car was not asked to show any proof."
