Using cosmetic products at spas/salons/parlours aren't always in the best interest of the customers as these products could not be authentic.
Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) commissioner Dr Pallavi Darade said that soon FDA will take strict actions against such people.
While FDA was raiding and seizing fake beauty products, they came across a shocking fact. Most of the times, the fake product is sold in branded bottles!
While raiding, FDA officials came across shampoos, hair-colours and face massage creams, as the most sold fake products. FDA seized products worth INR 29 lakh from Dharavi and Vile Parle, products worth INR 7 lakh from Pune and INR 16 lakh worth products from Nagpur. In total, INR 49 lakh worth products were seized in a months time.
These products are manufactured in slums and then filled in branded bottles.
For now, FDA’s permission is needed for the production of these beauty products. But henceforth, permission will be mandatory for selling. Darade said that soon a circular will be issued regarding the same.
A lot of times, beauticians do not dispose of bottles of beauty products and these same bottles which are used for filling up fake products. Darade added that henceforth beauticians will have to dispose of the bottles after use.
