Borivali Railway firing case: Charge sheet filed against constable Chetan Singh

The Borivali Railway Police on Friday filed a chargesheet against dismissed Railway Security Force (RPF) jawan Chetan Singh Chaudhary in connection with the firing on the Jaipur-Mumbai Express on the Western Railway. Sources informed that this 1,97-page charge sheet has been filed in the Municipal Magistrate's Court in Borivali and it also includes the statements of 169 witnesses.


The police had seized some cartridges that were recovered from the bodies of the deceased during the autopsy. Along with the rifle, they have also been sent for ballistic reports. Singh was carrying a semi-automatic assault rifle. He had 20 cartridges. He fired 12 of them on the day of the incident.

Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable Chetan Singh, who shot dead four people, including his senior officer, with his service weapon aboard the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Superfast Express in July, is completely sane, the chargesheet filed by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in the case stated. It added that Singh was aware of what he was doing, news agency ANI reported on Monday.


34-year-old Singh is accused of gunning down his senior officer, Tikaram Meena, and three passengers when the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Superfast Express was near Palghar station in the early hours of July 31. The three passengers, Abdul Kadar Mohamed Hussain Bhanpurawala, Sayyad Saifuddin and Asgar Abbas Shaikh, were travelling in different bogies of the train during the attack. He was later arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP).
