Ghatkopar- 350 residents of Ramji Nagar have begun protesting since Sunday against a developer who reneged on his promises to give them flats in a new high rise building.
In 2006, the Sinhagad and Sindhudurga Grihnirman Sanstha had signed an agreement with the developer and handed over their shanties and have been occupying the transit camp provided by the developer. But the slum dwellers say they were shocked to see that the developer had built only two floors of the new building thus far. They approached the slum rehabilitation authority and complained against the developer.
They say they also got to know that the developer had not secured permissions to construct a 22 storey building. “We have decided to protest in a peaceful manner but we will not stop until we get justice,” said Prabhakar Shetty, president, Sindhudurga Grihnirman Sanstha.
