The sleuths of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) have red-handedly arrested a senior clerk of the Andheri-based Regional Transport Office and an agent for accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 on Tuesday.
According to information, a relative of a complainant was declared winner of rickshaw permit lottery. When he approached the RTO office in Andheri and met senior clerk Rajesh Lokhande, he was demanded bribe of Rs 3000 for each file and Rs 5000 for his senior officer. After comprise, the amount of bribe was fixed at Rs 10,000. The amount to be given for the senior RTO officer was decided to be handed over to RTO agent Popat Awhad.
Meanwhile, the complainant registered a case with the ACB. The ACB officials laid a trap and arrested senior clerk Rajesh Lokhande (39) and agent Popat Awhad (44) while accepting the bribe. The ACB sleuths are further investing the case.
