472 Mumbai Police personnel who had tested positive for coronavirus have recovered from the infection. According to a senior police official, a majority of policemen who have recovered, have reported back to duty.
So far, 214 police officers and 1,176 constables in Mumbai Police have tested positive for coronavirus. Of which, 472 policemen have recovered from the virus whereas 13 police officials have succumbed to COVID-19. 22 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel across the state have tested positive. Alongside, 70 State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) personnel who were deployed in Mumbai have also tested positive for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, 93 Maharashtra Police personnel have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of infected officials to 2,509. While all police officials in the 50-55 age group have been allotted non-risky work, the policemen over 55 years have been sent on leave.
Meanwhile, we have now entered Lockdown 5.0. and yet, people have been disregarding lockdown norms. Despite repeated warnings, individuals have been flouting lockdown regulations. As a result, by May 27, Maharashtra Police registered cases against 1.16 lakh people and have collected fines worth ₹5.75 crores.
Along with this, Maharastra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh informed that the police has impounded over 75,000 vehicles so far. He further added that between March 22 and May 27, the police booked 1,16,670 people under Sec 188 for violating lockdown and arrested 23,314 individuals.
