After Parel’s Crystal Tower caught fire and four people were killed in the incident, the police arrested the builder Abdul Razzaq Ismail Supariwala. The court has extended his police custody for two weeks.

Earlier on August 22, the police arrested Supariwala and the court ordered him to remain in custody till August 27.

In an unfortunate incident, a fire broke out in Parel’s Crystal Tower which killed four people and almost 20 people were critically injured. The fire started due to a short circuit, as per the locals, and many questions were raised regarding the building’s safety concerns.

During the investigation, it was found that the building was not given an Occupancy Certificate (OC) by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Also, the fire safety equipment in the building was non-functional. With this, the situation went out of hand and it took time for the fire brigade to get it under control.
