The stampede which took place on Elphinstone bridge proves the lackadaisical attitude of both Indian railways and Mumbai police, who did not register abetment of the suicide case against railway officials, said commuters.

Railway activist Sameer Zaveri questioned the Mumbai police as to why they registered accidental death report and not filed a police complaint against railway officials? He demanded that Mumbai police should file a police complaint against Railway General Manager and authorities concerned.

On 23 April 2015, South Mumbai’s MP Rahul Shewale had written to former railway minister Suresh Prabhu about the expansion of Elphinstone bridge, but no step was taken.
