Three people were killed and four others were injured in a violent argument between two families in Dahisar West on Sunday, May 18. The incident happened around 4:30 PM near Gali No. 14 in Ganpat Patil Nagar.
The families involved were the Guptas and the Sheikhs. Both families live in the same area. Police said they have had a history of fights over small issues. In 2022, Ram Gupta and Amit Sheikh had filed cross-complaints of assault against each other.
An argument broke out near the coconut stall of Ram Gupta. Hamid Sheikh, who was allegedly drunk, started a fight with Ram Gupta. Soon, both men called their sons to the scene.
Hamid Sheikh came with his sons Armaan and Hasan. Ram Gupta called his sons Amar, Arvind, and Amit. A violent fight followed. Both groups used hands and sharp weapons.
Ram Gupta, aged 50, and his son Arvind Gupta, aged 23, were badly injured. Hamid Sheikh, aged 49, was also hurt in the fight. All three were taken to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali West. Doctors declared them dead.
Armaan Sheikh, Hasan Sheikh, Amar Gupta, and Amit Gupta were also injured. They are being treated at the hospital. Police from the MHB station said they are registering a cross-murder case. They have not arrested the main accused because of the injuries.
Police have seized the weapons used in the fight. Forensic teams have gathered samples from the spot. Officers are now taking witness statements. Police confirmed that there had been earlier fights between the two families. The case is under investigation.
