On Sunday, December 6, a cylinder blast at Lalbaug area in Mumbai has left at least 14  people injured and resulted in the death of two people. Two days after the incidence on December 8, a case of culpable homicide has been registered at Kalachuki police station in connection with the accident.

Mangesh Rane, owner of Rane Caterer and his son Yash Rane have been booked and are likely to be arrested after being discharged from the hospital.

The accident took place on the second floor of Sarabhai building at Ganesh Galli. Those injured in the incident were admitted to King Edward Hospital (KEM) and Global hospital in Mumbai. Out of the people that were injured nine are still in a critical state at KEM and Masina hospitals. Even the accused are getting treatment for the burns.

Rane was in the catering business and had kept a cylinder for commercial use in his room. There were complaints of a gas leak that he had been taking lightly. However, on that fateful day, he finally paid heed to these complaints and went in to check but it was already too late by then as a fire broke out and there was a blast in the cylinder.

Later when two people succumbed to their injuries, then the section of culpable homicide was also added in the FIR.

Furthermore, INR 50,000 will be given to those who have been injured in the cylinder blast. This announcement was done by Cheif Minister Uddhav Thackery.
