Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut is to be admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai in order for him to undergo angioplasty surgery.

Raut has been admitted to the hospital on Wednesday, December 2, for the operation and will undergo surgery on Thursday, December 3.

A coronary angioplasty is a procedure used to widen blocked or narrowed coronary arteries. The Shiv Sena MP had undergone the surgery last year. However, he has been suffering again, as per reports. According to sources, heart specialist Dr Mathew will perform angioplasty on Sanjay Raut. After the operation last year, Raut was scheduled to undergo another operation in April 2020, however, the surgery was postponed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

The Shiv Sena leader is an integral part of the ruling Mahavikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra and is known to be outspoken with strong, angular opinions. Earlier, Raut had slammed the BJP for the raids conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on properties of party MLA Pratap Sarnaik as "political vendetta" for taking a firm stand against a "television channel" with regards to the Anvay Naik suicide case.

Furthermore, he stated that the opposition should forget the dream of coming to power in Maharashtra for the next 25 years, "no matter how much pressure it exerts or spreads terror through agencies". Raut further added that Sarnaik's properties were raided while the latter was not at home asserting that no matter how many notices are issued, only the truth shall prevail in Maharashtra.
