The police recovered 12 vehicles and arrested four men for stealing rickshaws from different parts of Mumbai and selling them in the Dhule district.

Santacruz police recently arrested four men for allegedly stealing auto-rickshaws from different parts of Mumbai.

The four accused stole the rickshaws and sold them in Dhule district of Maharashtra, said police on Wednesday, September 29.

The incident surfaced when the complainant, identified as Dilip Kumar Shah (42), received a message about e-challan. His rickshaw was stolen last month, and upon receiving the message this month, he instantly went to the local police and complained about the matter.

After verifying the challan, the officer said that it was observed that the Devpur police station in Dhule issued the challan. The auto-rickshaw that was traced to Dhule was found with one of the accused. The police arrested him. The other accused who were involved in the crime were arrested in Govandi, Andheri, and Bandra.

The four men were identified as Jabbar Sattar Khan (24), Abid Fazal Sheikh (25), Aslam Maniyar (38), and Waseem Sheikh (35). The accused have been booked under section 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and are currently in police custody.

They have recovered 12 auto-rickshaws from them, said the police.
