The court has not given any relief to Bhavesh Bhinde, the prime accused in the Ghatkopar hoarding incident. The court has extended Bhavesh Bhinde's custody till May 29. Two weeks ago, 17 people were killed when a hoarding collapsed in Mumbai's Ghatkopar. After this unfortunate incident, Mumbai Police arrested him from Udaipur, Rajasthan. Bhavesh Bhinde's advertising company was operating the hoarding that collapsed. Bhinde absconded after the hoarding incident. But the police traced him to Udaipur and produced him before the court today (May 26).

In Mumbai on May 13, a hoarding on the Eastern Expressway at Ghatkopar collapsed due to strong winds. 17 people were killed in this accident. This hoarding was put up by the company Ego Media Private Limited. As Bhavesh Bhinde was the director of that company, a case of culpable homicide was registered against him. After this accident, the police were looking for Bhavesh Bhinde. The police went to his residence in Mulund and tried to nab him. However, he escaped before the police raid. When the police tried to trace his last location, they found that he was in Lonavala. Accordingly, the police went to Lonavala. But he absconded from there too. Subsequently, the Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police arrested him on May 16 from Udaipur in Rajasthan and brought him to Mumbai.

So far 23 criminal cases have been registered against Bhavesh Bhinde. Apart from this, a case of rape has also been registered against him. On January 24 this year, a complaint of rape and molestation was filed against Bhavesh in Mullund police station. The Bombay High Court had granted his interim bail in this case. Bhinde has been in the advertising business since 1998 and has been fined more than 100 times by the Municipal Corporation. These punitive actions have been taken in connection with putting up advertising boards. Along with this, a total of 6 other cases including one case of rape have been registered against him, out of which four cases have been registered in Mulund and two cases have been registered in Santacruz police station.

Even before Bhavesh Bhinde became the director of Ego Media, the company had received permission for an advertisement board in Ghatkopar. Even before that, the crime branch has received information that Bhinde had dealings with this company. Police are verifying it. Due to massive action against Bhinde, he was somehow blacklisted. Therefore, it is suspected that he has established a company in the name of another colleague and done this transaction and the police are investigating it.
