The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), on Monday, December 21, has offered a big relief to Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Saranaik who is currently on Enforcement Directorate's (ED) radar.

As per reports, the firm had given 500 security guards to MMRDA as per the contract, out of which about 70 per cent of them were security guards. However, Ramesh Iyer had lodged a complaint alleging that the salaries of all security guards were still being deducted.

He was interrogated for seven hours and was later released by the ED. Furthermore, he was accused of receiving some amount of money from authority fraudulently.

Meanwhile, several companies had participated in the tender process of MMRDA and six companies were approved in the process, one of which was Tops. As per reports, Tops provided security guards as mentioned in the tender process and were also funded in the same way as mentioned in the process. MMRDA has also stated that some security guards were absent and as per records, action has been taken against them and they have been fined too.

It is said that Pratap Saranaik is relieved after the MMRDA report. However, former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya had alleged that Pratap Saranaik's Vihang Group of Builders had unauthorized construction of four floors in two buildings. Members from the political circuit state that Somaiya has deliberately tried to discredit the 8-year-old case, basis which Sarnaik plans to file a defamation suit against him for INR 100 crores.

Meanwhile, the MMRDA has reported that there was no corruption in the allegations against Sarnaik, however, sources in the police force said that they are still investigating the matter.
