A journalist working with Times Now was recently attacked outside his residence in Gamdevi. Herman Gomes and his friend were returning home at 1:30 am on Sunday, where they were attacked by a group of unidentified goons.

Herman took to Facebook to share the same and posted a message with some pictures that read, “Tonight while returning with my friend, I was attacked by an unknown group of people right outside my Bombay House. It was clearly pre-planned. They were armed with a knuckle duster. I always mind my own business and do stories that I firmly Believe in. Last night was something different and they came out to KILL me. My eye is badly affected and so is my body. I don't know which story affected people so much. I don't know these people too. Mumbai Police has asked a senior IPS officer to look after the case. FIR filed at Gamdevi Police station shortly. I managed to take on 2 people but another group was waiting to take on me at the back. I've got 6 stitches around my eye, among others. My family and I are affected.”

Armed with Knuckle Dusters, the men may have come with an intention to kill him, stated the journalist in his message. Reports further stated that the journalist said, “They were waiting for us near my home. It wasn't a last-minute provocation. They took my friend's phone with them.”

Herman said that the police asked him for evidence, instead of taking the matter immediately into consideration. However, the officials are now investigating and a senior IPS officer has been asked to have a close look at the case. An FIR has been registered at Gamdevi police station. The motive behind the attack is unknown and Herman is not aware of the identity of his attackers.

Taking a note of the same, Mumbai Press Club has demanded immediate action against the assailants.

Mirror Now also reported that the attack has also been brought to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ notice.
