On November 3, 2018, a special CBI Court in Mumbai rejected a plea filed by Indrani Mukerjea, who is the main accused in the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora. Currently, she is lodged at Byculla women’s prison since 2015.

A former media executive, Indrani was married to the former Chairman of INX Media, Peter Mukerjea but earlier this year, the couple sought a divorce. Citing medical grounds, Indrani’s lawyers have been arguing for her bail but were unsuccessful in getting the same. In September, the Special CBI court had denied Indrani bail for the second time terming her reasons as 'exaggerated'.

In the past few months, Indrani had been rushed to the hospital on a number of occasions after she complained of a headache and double vision.

In August 2015, Mukerjea, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her former driver were arrested for the alleged murder of her daughter - Sheena Bora in August 2015. Her husband and media baron Peter Mukerjea was arrested for allegedly being part of the conspiracy.
