A shocking incident has been reported in the city of Mumbai whereby a car of a well-known businessman from the city was stopped on a busy road and robbed during the day. Furthermore, the robbers claimed to be the Deputy Commissioner. It is said that they demanded a ransom of INR 2 crore from the trader for not taking action, responding to which the trader also paid INR 25 lakh to the accused.

However, he was soon fed up with the growing demands, post which he finally sought the help of the police. It has been concluded that the accused also used fake NIA identity cards and documents in this case. Officials from the concerned police department are investigating the matter further.

The victim is a resident of city's popular Avighna Park located in Lower Parel, and the incident occurred while he was on his way to Bharatmata Junction in Lalbaug, whereby two two-wheelers were parked horizontally in front of his vehicle. While he took out the car key, the third person associated with the crime said he was a deputy commissioner of the NIA and had received a complaint against the trader.

To intimidate him, the accused threatened to raid the complainant's house and showed his identity cards and documents. He also threatened to file a case against the complainant, post which he demanded INR 2 crore if he did not wish to file a case. Frightened by the same, the trader said it was not possible to pay that demanded amount, however, after receiving many threats, the accused agreed to pay a sum of INR 25 lakh.

But after finding out that he had been cheated in the case, the trader lodged a complaint with the Kalachauki police. Officials have filed a case under sections 170,171,419, 420,465, 467,468,471,474,385,392,341,120 (b) of the IPC, and after the initial investigation, the team has arrested Rajesh Bansi Pawar and Vijay Singh alias Mahesh Pancharwala in the case.

Both are currently in judicial custody and police are searching for an accomplice of the accused. Upon interrogation, it was said that Vijay Singh pretended to be the Deputy Commissioner, and along with other Pawar, his accomplice had entered the complainant's vehicle. It is suspected that the accused have cheated many in such a manner.
