Notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang has reportedly become active in Mumbai during the Ganeshotsav period. A prominent construction businessman in Goregaon received a threatening phone call demanding a ransom of INR 25 lakh and 1 kg of gold.

The caller, claiming to be part of the Bishnoi gang, threatened to kill the businessman and his family if the ransom was not paid. The terrified businessman immediately approached the Goregaon Police Station, where a case was registered against unidentified individuals under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The Mumbai Crime Branch is conducting a parallel investigation.

This incident has raised concerns, especially as Mumbai Police is already on high alert to maintain law and order during Ganeshotsav. The involvement of the Bishnoi gang has heightened suspicions, particularly since the same gang was recently linked to the firing incident at comedian Kapil Sharma’s café in Canada.

Ongoing Investigation

According to officials, the identity of the caller is yet to be confirmed. However, the mention of Lawrence Bishnoi's name is being taken seriously. “We are treating this as a high-priority case due to the gang's known history and the current festival season,” said a senior police officer.

Who is Lawrence Bishnoi?

Lawrence Bishnoi is a notorious gangster from Haryana and the head of the Bishnoi gang, which operates across Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and other northern states. He gained national notoriety after issuing threats to actor Salman Khan and allegedly masterminding the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
