Everyone must be aware of wedding gatecrash scene in the movie Three Idiots. Something similar has happened in Mumbai. However, the consequences weren't as gauzy as it is shown in the Bollywood movies.
A 24-year-old boy, who barged into a marriage for food late at night in Mumbai, ended up losing his scooter.
On June 13, a Goregaon resident Javed Qureshi went out with his 17-year-old cousin and some friends. When they reached Jogeshwari, his cousin and the friends pointed out a community hall where a wedding party was going on.
Despite not being related to the families of the bride and groom, all the youngsters entered the venue and started eating. While they were eating, some people from the host family approached them and started talking to them.
The hosts became aggressive when they realised that they had come uninvited. The family started abusing them physically. Getting panicked, they started running outside.
As they were out of the hall, the guests intervened and stopped the host family from beating them up.
Later, Javed Qureshi recollected that his scooter was left in the parking lot in the chaos. He requested a person who was there to bring him a scooter. Qureshi thought the person was one of the wedding guests. So he gave him the key. But the person escaped with a scooter, informed the police officer.
On Saturday, Qureshi approached the Oshiwara police station where a case of breach of trust was registered against an unidentified person.
