Mumbai: Juvenile accused sent to Dongri Children's Home for sexually assaulting 8-year-old girl

A serious incident of sexual abuse of an eight-year-old girl has taken place in Dharavi area and the Dharavi police has registered a case under the Protection of Children from Rape and Sexual Abuse Act (POCSO) in this regard. As the accused in this case is 15 years old, he has been sent to the Juvenile Correctional Home.


It is alleged that while the victim girl was playing outside in Dharavi, the accused boy took her to his house and raped her. When the victim girl's brother came to know about this, he called his mother and told the incident. At that time mother came home immediately. When she asked the victim, everything was revealed. Finally, the victim's mother lodged a complaint with the Dharavi police. Accordingly, the police registered a case under the Rape and POCSO Act.

As the accused is a minor, he has been sent to a juvenile detention center in Dongri. Dharavi police is conducting further investigation in this matter. Sources said that the victim girl was taken to Lokmanya Tilak Hospital in Sion for treatment.
