On November 4, a 30-year-old man was booked for allegedly crashing his four-wheeler into three vehicles, killing a 64-year-old man and injuring three others on the Western Express highway Kandivali (East).

As per the preliminary probe by Samta Nagar police, the accused Milan Kothari (30), who is a Mira Road resident, was driving his car at a very high speed and lost control, crashing into other vehicles. On the complaint of one of the injured auturickshaw driver, Sakhawat Ansari (44), he was booked.


On Saturday evening, when Ansari was coming towards Malad from Mira Road with a passenger, a car hit his vehicle from behind at around 6:30 pm, according to police.

“In the impact, Ansari’s rickshaw overturned and the passenger Tanuja Sahani (45) got injured,” said a police officer. 

As per Ansari, whose left arm got fractured, the car then crashed into a motorcycle and a tempo.


While 64-year-old Sohansingh Chana suffered serious head injuries and was declared dead at the Shatabdi hospital, tempo driver Vijay Chavan (49) suffered a fracture in his leg. 

Kothari was booked under sections 279, 304(a), 337, and 338 of the Indian Penal Code and section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
