Mumbai: A 69-year-old man dies in a hit-and-run on the Eastern Expressway

A 69-year-old man died after being hit by an unknown vehicle on the expressway in Vikhroli. On Wednesday, the Vikhroli police registered a case against an unknown driver for causing death by negligent driving and the search for the accused is underway with the help of CCTV.

The name of the deceased is Nandkumar Malekar and he was living with his family in Ghatkopar East, Laxmi Nagar area. He was working as a security guard in a housing association. His working hours were from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm. On Tuesday afternoon, after eating, he left home to go to work. He called his daughter around 9:00 pm and asked him to keep the food ready. Then around 10:30 pm, the Malekar family received a phone call from a person named Akbar Khan. He said that his father met with an accident near Godrej Ghoda Gate signal. After that, the Vikhroli police contacted the family over the phone.

Nandkumar was hit by an unknown vehicle and was seriously injured. Police told the Malekar family that he has been admitted to Rajawadi Hospital for treatment. However, when his son reached the Rajawadi hospital, the doctors declared his father dead after a medical examination.

On Wednesday, the Vikhroli police registered a case against the unknown vehicle driver on the complaint of Naveen Malekar, son of Nand Kumar. Police are searching for the accused vehicle driver with the help of CCTV.
