On the night of 03-04 February, 2025, the officers at Airport Commissionerate, Mumbai, Zone-III, made a seizure of Gold weighing 2.830 Kg provisionally valued over INR 2 crore in a case. Four passengers have been arrested under the Customs Act, 1962.
On the basis of profiling, Customs officers at CSMIA, Mumbai, intercepted 03 passengers arriving from Dubai to Mumbai and 1 private airport staff working at Departure Hall, Mumbai Airport and recovered 24 KT gold dust in wax having Gross weight 2.966 Kg and net weight 2.830 Kg, provisionally valued at INR 2.21 Crore.
The officers discovered that the passengers had concealed the gold in polythene bags, which were then placed inside a store-branded jute bag hanging in the store. Subsequently, the same bag was picked up by private airport staff working at that store.
Similarly, on January 27, customs officers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International (CSMI) Airport, Mumbai, seized a total of 1.649 kilograms of narcotic drugs valued at approximately INR 16.49 Crore.
On night of January 27, 2025, acting on profiling and specific intelligence, Customs officers intercepted a passenger arriving in Mumbai from Sao Paulo (Brazil) via Paris. Over the course of a 5-day operation, officers recovered 170 capsules containing a white, crumbled substance, suspected to be cocaine. The substance was ingested as well as concealed inside the passenger’s body cavity. The accused passenger was arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
