Dabholkar Murder Case: Maharashtra ATS arrests five people from Tasgaon

Maharashtra Anti-terrorist Squad (ATS) on Friday morning arrested five people from Tasgaon in connection with Narendra Dabholkar Murder Case. In its investigation, the ATS figured that the five arrested have connections with the extremist organisations.

Meanwhile, Karnataka police District Superintendent of Police (DSP) has ordered to strengthen security for those names which are mentioned on a 'hit-list' found in the Nalasopara Explosive Case. 26 people have been named on that list.

Maharashtra Andhvishwas Nirmulan Samiti founder, Dr Narendra Dabholkar, was shot dead in August 2013 followed by the murder of other rationalists including Comrade Govind Pansare, Professor M.M. Kalburgi and Journalist Gauri Lankesh. The investigative agencies accelerated their investigation after the murder of Lankesh who was also shot dead outside her residence in Karnataka.

The series of the arrests came after ATS booked Vaibhav Raut, who is associated with Sanatan Sanstha. Following the leads, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Sachin Prakarao Andhure who is said to be the main shooter in Dabholkar Murder Case. After that, there have been various search operations conducted by the police.

The names of the five accused have not been released yet. Also, the local police were not aware of the arrests and the search operation.
