Wadala Lohmarg police arrested eight people from a gang who took advantage of the crowd to steal gold chains. All the eight accused in this gang are natives of West Bengal and the police seized a large amount of material from them.

For the past few months, taking advantage of the crowd in the railways, there has been an increase in the number of theft of gold chains from the necks of passengers. Two months ago, a gold chain of a passenger was also stolen by thieves at Kurla railway station. After a case was registered in Wadala Lohmarg police station, the police started searching for these thieves. CCTV footage from the platform showed seven to eight people surrounding the passenger and stealing the gold chain from his neck. Accordingly, the police started searching for these thieves.


Two days ago, the police received information that some of the accused from this gang were outside the Tilak Nagar railway station. Accordingly, the police laid a trap and arrested the four accused. The accused have been identified as Safiq Gayan (37), Ajijul Laksar (35), Alamgir Hussain (47) and Abu Tadafdar (37).During interrogation, the accused told the police the names of some other accomplices. Accordingly, the police arrested four people namely Jahangir Maula (37), Ashish Pradhan (38), Manrul Sheikh (25) and Javed Akhtar (25). All of them are natives of West Bengal.
